Setting Up X3 Storage Areas

Use X3 Storage Areas in the Usage > Usage block to define logical volumes for storing documents (for Classic mode). A document is any file.

  • Select File as the type to store documents in the common mongoDB document database. This is a global volume attached to the client platform.
  • Select Image file in database or Text file in database as the type to store large files in the database associated with a Sage X3 folder.
    • Image files can include any format and are displayed directly if this format is managed by a widget in the client. For example, image files for login users or products.
    • Text files are stored as character documents and can include any format (HTML, plain text, XML, and JSON files).
    • The volume must exist within the appropriate folder endpoint.
  • At the Root field, type a location (URI) on a physical disk available on the Sage X3 application server present on the network or from a server. The volume can be attached to an endpoint to limit its use with the corresponding folder.
